I have a Rebel T1i

For some reason, my main lens has started hunting so to speak.
It used to dial in, beep and shoot.

Now it is trying to focus in and out and sometimes never settling.
Is that likely a lens issue or camera issue?

I know the lens does the focusing but the camera has the brain.

The camera s probably 4 years old the lens is pretty cheap and about a year old. I think I spend $150 on the lens which in DSLR terms is sort of a throw away lens at that price but this behavior is new.

Often times AF problems are from low batteries or some dirt/dust/fingerprint in the line of light for the focal sensor.

What about using another lens, same issue ?

Well, That is a no brainer I guess.
My other lens is a prime lens and I don't use AF w/ it
It is fixed so I just focus w/ my feet.

Just put it on and it started hunting.

Not sure if this was dumb but I just blew a bit of compressed air into the camera body and it seems to be doing better.

The issue was intermittent and and predominately happened in lower light.

I am going to go shoot a bunch of pics and see if it happens again.

The camera and the lens both have their own autofocus systems. You need to borrow/rent another lens to find out which one is ****ed

Here is a picture I just took of a dead house fly

I have snapped about 30 photos and it doesn't seem to be hunting.
Wonder if there was something in the camera body that I managed to blow out
