Dreams aloft

As I'm walking across the tarmac what is that I see, a dirty old Cessna staring right back at me.
With dried mud on the tires and loose paint chips hanging down, a little bit of dried oil coming from the cowl.

After I walk around a bit to make sure things are tight, I climb in to this bird for another beautiful flight.
So I strap into this workhorse and bring the engine to life, I check all the gauges to make sure they are just right.

As I taxi to the active and check the mags for change, I announce over the radio my intentions for the day.
Then I roll out onto the runway with lights all a blare, I bring the prop some power and soon leap up into the air.

Looking out of the windows and seeing the earth turn so small,
I remember gazing upward as a child and being in complete awe.

When I get to that magical level, just above the clouds am I
I pull back on the power and just enjoy the freedom of the sky.

As I start to look for that small airstrip, where I'm going to land
I feel a pinch in my side and this dream starts to end.

As I wake up from my restful sleep to a wife that's says I snore
I realize that I was just dreaming and flying nothing more.

So when I lay my head back down and try to settle in
Guess I will have to start this dream all over again.[/FONT]
