Does anyone have a more precise definition of this? Specifically, if I take an acceptable pain medication such as 800mg Motrin once, one week before the medical, do I have to declare it? One month? One year?
 
It is undefined, officially. But most AMEs know that:

If it was a psych med, that means 180 days.
If it was a narcotic, that means 30 days, or 72 hours if the use was for a short operation.
Most do not declare sporadic use of NSAIDs as they are generally nonissues.

I take 81 mg aspirin every day as per doctor orders, so that gets reported on the form (Class III coming up in a few weeks so I'm getting paperwork in order...) It's not sporadic, so I have to declare it. The occasional tylenol when I have aches from playing volleyball? Nope, doesn't show up anywhere.
