Senator Imhofe from Oklahoma landed on a closed runway on the Texas coast.. then departed from the parallel taxiway.
Says he didn't get the NOTAM..
I know its a no no to land on a closed runway.. but didn't know of any rule that explicitly requires you to LAND on a runway (as opposed to open ground, land next to a runway, taxiways, etc)..
