DC-area ADIZ violations

and just think, zero, if the above didn't exist.
Folks were regularly violating P-40, P-56, and the BaltoWash Class B long before the ADIZ and FRZ came into being. It wasn't as hot a news item then, and the penalties were a bit less severe, but folks who were caught were still penalized or retrained (once, and once only) in one way or another.

And note the number of repeat offenders! Folks, we need to get this morons out of the cockpit once and for all!

at a recent meeting with the FAA in Leesburg, we were told the number of ADIZ violations in January was in the high 20s or low 30s, I think.

Leesburg is getting special focus because a majority of those violations were people not adhering to the unique procedures for the Leesburg Manuevering Area, mainly by squawking 1200 in the area.

I think the violation rate can be reduced some (Leesburg is going to put up signs by the departure areas and changed their ASOS to remind folks), but if you're already below one a day you're getting into the area of rapidly diminishing returns, where people just have a brain fart and forget something, even though they know exactly what they should be doing.
