Just curious how the procedure works if you head out for half a day. How do you show the parking crew that I already have a spot with my tent waiting for my return?
 
You should have your tickets, just show them at the gate.
 
My guess is if you really want to fly out for a bit you get to take your tent and camping gear with you.
 
I suppose you could make up a sign that says something like "ALREADY PARKED ROW 123". That way they can direct you toward your spot.

Then if you want to fly out and return, you take everything with you and when you come back they will park you in a new spot. But be prepared that if they are full when you come back you could be diverted to a different airport.

It can be done. People do fly outs all the time. No big deal. Just ask the folks that are in charge of parking in your area how it is done.
