I wasn't born yesterday, and I didn't just fall off the turnip truck ( I don't really know what that means;)) , but there are a couple of new scams that raised my suspicions.

Both are about the same. I am selling a car on CL. I get a response asking a suspiciously stupid question like " Does it start?" I say yes, then they send a link asking me to check on financing rates for them.

The next is the want me to click on a link to see if this is my car. Look closely at the spelling and it is misspelled. I have screwed up the link, just look how it is spelled.

What is the purpose of his scam? How does clicking on their link cost me money? Are they after my IP address? I have had dozens of tfhese requests.

It probably installs a virus. They could potentially take over your computer and use it for other attacks or install a key logger and capture your passwords.
