Cortoidsteroid injections

I fell off a roof about 11 years ago messing up my ankles, one pretty bad. A year after the surgery and recovery the Dr. told me I would need to have my ankle fused but to wait till I could not stand the pain. I have been taking a daily tablet of Meloxicam, 15mg, since about 2004 and all has been fine until the last 6 months or so, it’s getting hard to get things moving in the morning and other times. So I went to another Orthopedic Surgeon recommended by the original as an ankle specialist and asked what is next. She recommended an offloading brace and injections of Methylprednisolone or Depo-Medrol. She recommends every 3 to 6 months, depending on how well it works.

Are there any FAA restrictions with regards to this treatment?

Dr. Bruce - why would cortisone injections be grounding? I might get a little angrier than usual?
 
OP here.

I will give the treatment a try, stay grounded for a week. Just indicate on my next medical that I am getting the shots and there should be no problem with issuance.

I know that the one time I had a cortisone injection, my blood sugar skyrocketed -- and that was before I was diagnosed with diabetes. So maybe that has something to do with it.

That was the time I got stung by the majority of the residents of a nest of hornets in retaliation for having tried to kill them. They were not at all happy about it...

80 mgms of steroid can make you manic. Seriously. Not usual, but I've see it happen.
 
So that means we need to ask how much is being injected . . . or is that for all of it?

I avoid the things like the plague since they weaken tendons and sometimes cause more injury than they fix - and have not had one for a decade - but its still good to know that its grounding for a week to make sure I don't go manic . .
