Thomas Watson's fortune was a very generous contributor to my home area, Knox County. He was an early user and financial booster of the grass strip which grew into Knox County Regional Airport, KRKD. His estate's landing strip on North Haven Island could handle, in later years, his private jet; also, other jets which would arrive with visiting world dignitaries. A very generous man; but I'll bet he's "spinning" on this action by his grand daughter, and its latest "spin."

Well, it seems clear that the intent behind the adoption was to create a basis for inheriting property, since maine law doesn't allow for gay marriage.

To me a just resolution would be to read what the effect would have been on Spado's rights to that trust would be if she and Watson had been married and then later separated or divorced. My guess is the answer is "none", since the trust was set up for grandchildren.

This seems to be more about gay marriage and adult adoption than aviation... I'll leave it here for now, but don't be surprised if we move it to spin zone

.... understood. My aviation link was based on the very large support Mr. Watson showered upon KRKD, and the adjacent Owls Head Transportation Museum http://www.ohtm.org. The Watson name commands great respect in the region.
