Hi, I wonder if someone can shed some light on the following.

I am about to get a green card, (manager, non-aviation industry), thus a lawful permanent resident.
Can I pursue a Commercial Pilot rating?

The CFR 14 I.G.119.33, is pretty restrictive as a person may not operate as a direct air carrier unless that person is a citizen of the United States. However, airlines seems they can sponsor Employment Based visas, leading to Green card (EB1-2)

I have a full FAA PPL, working on my IR, so I am familiar with the TSA/AFSP screening process.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Direct air carrier means a person who provides or offers to provide air transportation and who has control over the operational functions performed in providing that transportation.

A commercial pilot employee does not have control over the operational functions of a direct air carrier.

I think i understand my confusion Clip4, thank you. The eligibility for the certification in 61.123, dont mention have such restriction. Thank you
