Line Up and Wait
If this has been linked here, I missed it, but I think some folks here might find these photographs interesting (especially since there's a Thunderbolt and a Lightning in there). Life has some color photographs taken around the time of the D-Day landings, both in England and in France. I didn't realize that color photography predated the war, but I guess it did. The photographer was Frank Scherschel. I found these pictures really striking.
