55 years ago today, the pilot that had bent the refueling probe on my F-100C

arrived at the party and gave the Crew Chief ( me) the bottle of Scotch required

to make amends.

It was the last time I saw him in person. He left for Vietnam and was later shot down.

The pilot was George “Bud “ Day who is the recipient of the Medal of Honor

and many other awards. Bud was also John McCain’s cellmate in the Hanoi Hilton.

I am the RAT ( Retired Air Technician ) and 53-1714 was called Sally the Shaker due

to her flight characteristics.

The J & B was left sealed since he was imprisoned and tortured.

Someday I’ll write the whole story.

google George “ Bud” Day and the Collings’s F-100F for a good read and video.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the story and a sincere thank you for serving your country.
J&B?

Thank you!

Sorry for the scrambled post but edit seems to be of no help.

J & B was the brand of Scotch.

Bud is the hero here.
