I was supposed to fly the family to FL for a few days of spring break, but a pesky oil leak worsened on a trip back fro Dallas last week and my mechanic can't seem to nail down the origin of the leak. It's coming from somewhere around the remote oil filter, but we haven't been able to tell exactly where it's leaking so we're getting a new fitting ordered. I just had the oil and filter changed and it was leaking both before and after the change. So it ain't the filter.

So, my son said he always wanted to go to the Smoky Mountains and Chattanooga. We're going to load the van tomorrow for a road trip (gosh I hate that). Anyoe have any suggestions on how to keep a 16 yo and his dad from getting bored? Mom seems to be able to entertain herself better than my son and me so shopping is out :).

Help?

Let Garrett drive. He'll be occupied, and you won't be bored! :)

Sorry you can't fly Alan, dang it.

My brother lives in Chattanooga and we have done some of the tourist things there. I liked the aquarium:

We went to Rock City, and it was OK. Did the river boat ride and it was OK too, but maybe those things aren't too exciting for a 16 year old.

Here's a site that lists some of the things to do:

My favorite place to hang out is the airport that I flew into; it's friendly and homey: Collegedale 3M3

I think that Bill Jennings lives there; hopefully he'll see this.

Are you going to be in the area for a few days? We did some river rafting east of Chattanooga and I could find the name of the rafting company if you're interested.

It's a beautiful part of the country. :)

I'm sure he'll get his wheel time in. Problem is, when he drives I don't nap...

Wonder why?

I gotta get that oil leak fixed. My wife is changing shorts and sandals for jeans and sweaters and she isn't too happy about it.

I guess we'll drive through the park. Something will come up. sometimes the unplanned trip are the most memorable.

Take you camera. I did some really good shooting up there of some old buildings, cars, etc. Of course, I am getting into photography...so that might bore you.

We're back. Came back a day early :). It was a pretty good trip. We drove through the park, watched a show, and toured a few of the shops.

The problem with the 421 (yep, the one in the avatar) was the supply hoswe to the remote oil filter. The hoses were replace 3 yrs/ 400 hours ago, but oil was seeping from beneath the fire sleeve. I'm anxious to see what the hose looks like inside and why it was leaking.

Driving sucks...
