Looks like a Honda VTX. Honda made two sizes. 1300 and 1800 cc.

I thought Shadow when I seen it but I'm not certain.

the speedometer cluster on the gas tank doesn't seem to be what's used on a Shadow (iirc)

You are correct. My brother has a Shadow but it's been more than a few days since I saw it.

Doing a bit of a search makes it appear to be VTX ... or did I swing and miss twice?

Honda VTX, probably a mid- 2000's model. Dunno if it's a 1300/1800 engine, but looks like a 1300 model. Uncle of mine has a VTX 1800 and rides it constantly, never gives him problems. Similar to my father's Yamaha (Star) Stratoliner 1800.

A Honda for the Biker, as opposed to the Motorcyclist.
    Beyond that I don’t care.
