Were they blowing through the M94 pattern like the F-16s do?

I live under a refueling route. It is really fun trying to find called traffic when they do night time refueling lights out.

And nothing like climbing through 11,000 msl and center advises to maintain 11,000, refueler 6 o'clock at 12,000, and 10 seconds later both planes still hooked together goes right over me.

Couldn't play that link but I've seen it before. It was the last airshow at El Toro, NZJ, before it shut down. If you ever get a chance to do an airshow at a MCAS, go. It's all the usual stuff, Blue Angles, acrobatic shows and the static displays. They also do the whole "close air support" thing with the troops.
