The one on the left is very good. @ $175

The one next to it (IMHO) is better @ $46.

edit: Ok, why is it rotated and how do I fix it?

I love a good Bourbon, but lately that MacAllan 12 has been hitting the spot. Mmmmmmmmm!

Bourbon. Isn’t that more likely to be found in Bowling Green, KY than in North Dakota? Another +1 for going to school there.

Thanks. I copied and pasted the picture to Paint and it pasted upright. Then I copied it to a reply here on POA and "previewed" and it was upright.
Not sure what's going on, but I'll try that again next time.

    :raspberry:

edit: Ok, on a really hot day, when standing over a hot grill and there is nothing else available, a really cold Miller might taste good.

In full disclosure, I worked for Miller Brewing Company out of Milwaukee for 2 years in the mid '70s, in the marketing division. I was a College Campus representative in the Atlanta Area.

When I was 18, Miller tasted good. Now at 64, it doesn't taste at all.

At least once a week. But not too much vermouth. Just a drop or two. And my favorite olives are from Sam's club; stuffed with garlic and jalopeno. Mmmmm.

Whoever sold you Weller for $175 needs to be avoided. That’s 12-yr prices. Weller Special Reserve is a good everyday bourbon I can find for under $30 locally. I haven’t tasted the Wolcott, which is Total Wine & Liquors private label and has no aging statement. Next time I’m over there I’ll try it out.

I say drink the bourbon you like. I recently splurged on a Smoke Wagon bourbon that I love. Found a 100% difference in price between two retailers locally. The place that had it in stock was 2x the place that sells it out on the day it’s stocked, so I ordered a case from them for the price of 3 bottles and have a guaranteed delivery date in two weeks.

Where do you live? I'll come buy several cases. The bottle in my pic was 1.75 liters.
    upload_2022-3-16_8-42-1.png

I bought the Wellers about a year ago as a gift for a friend that I was going to visit. I could not find it locally anywhere so I had to mail order it but it arrived late and the trip had to be cancelled anyway due to both COVID and weather.

At the prices I"m seeing for Evan White label, I might have to try it. It might help make up for what I spend on the Macallan.

I did the responsible thing. ;)

I'll get him something else next time I visit. On one of my last three week, continent wide Bonanza tours we stayed with him and his wife on both the outbound leg and the final home leg. Due to COVID, they fed us and plied us with liquor at their house. Even if I buy him a $200 bottle or two I will still come out ahead.

It's really not bad at all, a few drops of water or a cube opens it up nicely. Another good value "table" bourbon is Four Roses yellow label, although folks have caught on and it's not near the value it used to be.

You bunch of high faulting bourbon drinkers, just give me a cheap bottle of rum and I’m happy.

Especially if it comes with tropical weather and a sandy beach.

Here's the straight spirits side of my bar. The Bourbon/Rey are the lowest tier in the rack starting on the counter:

Countertop: Makers Mark 46 oaked, Gold Miner corn whiskey, Baby Blue Corn Whiskey
on the right are a few artisinal flavored rums I snagged from a spirits competition I judged.

First Tier: Makers Mark, Thomas Jefferson Ocean, Woodford Reserve, Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, Knob Creek Rye, Koval, Troy and Sons, Bell Meade Madeira-cask finished,
Rabbit Hole Deringer (Sherry cask finished), Rabbit Hole Boxergrail (Rye), Rabet Hole Cavehill (Bourbon), Iwai Japanese Whiskey, Issac Bowman Port Finished, Woodford Reserve.

Second Tier: Canadian Club, Bedlam Vodka, Godons Vodka, New Amsterdam Vodka,
Absolute Citron Vodka, Stolichnaya, Titos Vodka, Corozon Tequila, Curevo Tequila,
Zaya Rum, Bacardi Select rum, Bacardi Superior rum, Plantation Rum, Bacardi Gold Rum

Third Tier: Robin's Breast Irish Single Pot Whiskey, Bushmills Red Bush, Jameson Irish,
Writer's Tears Irish, Talisker 10 Year Scotch, Bunnahabhain Toiteach a Dha,
Bombay Sapphire Gin, Malfy Gin, Burnetts Gin, Tanqueray Gin,
Rabbit Hole Barrel Aged Gin, Chanaska Barrel Gin

Liquors, cordials, and other flavored stuff are on the other side.

Nah. Macallan 25 most certainly will, though. I recently had the opportunity to try that, and let's say my retirement goals just shifted a bit.

    Wow. You are right.
We are planning a trip to Minneapolis in the next few months. Columbus is not exactly on the way from Florida, but at those prices, it might be close enough.

I'd had the 12, and it was OK, but (in my humble opinion) nothing to write home about. I ordered the 18 at dinner, and the bartender sent word that they were out of the 18 and all he had was 12 and 25. I went with the 25, and it was... amazing. Certainly not something I'll be buying for the liquor cabinet any time soon, though.

For me, the thing about bourbon is that it has to be either top $helf to be drinkable or otherwise I can't stand it.

The 12 sherry cask is my everyday Mac. I can get the 15 year fine oak at the $138 MSRP here most of the time. I don’t touch that bottle unless I have time to pair with a nice cigar. I think the people working in that distillery are angels that can’t find their way back into heaven so they started making whisky to pass the time.
