bounce rate

Hi

As a few of you might know, I have a few blogs. One is mostly photography/travel stories and the other relates to my attempts to learn how to cook (learn how to plan meals, is more like it...).

At any rate, I have both of those as well as my actual photography website (yes, a third one...) linked to google analytics.

What exactly is "bounce rate"? I get that 100% is not great, and the lower the percentage the better because you are getting more repeat traffic... but overall, what is it?

It basically means the visitor is only looking at the home page (or link to the page that brought them there) and not going to any other pages in the site.

Yes, the percentage of people who leave the site after only visiting one initial page and not clicking around at other pages on your site.
