Bill Lear makes cameo appearance

Remember the 1950s sitcom "The Bob Cummings Show" (renamed "Love That Bob" in syndication)?

(Bob Cummings was an excellent dramatic and comedic actor, as well as an accomplished pilot. He was the first person ever certified as a flight instructor by the US Government-- the very first CFI. He learned to fly in the 1920s from his godfather, one Orville Wright.)

The sitcom featured Cummings' own Beech Super E18 in many of the plot lines. Guest characters in the show were given names of Cummings' real-life flying buddies. For example, the plot synopsis for one fourth-season episode reads, "Bob tries to play cupid by introducing his sister to a handsome rocket scientist." The "rocket scientist's" name in the script was "Bill Lear" (I wonder what Moya thought of that plot). In another episode, Air Force Reservist Bob gets in trouble with his commanding officer, "Brig. Gen. Frank Tallman".
