Nothing new here. Several cities in the US are deploying this system (or one identical to it).

Every time somebody raises an objection, the LE folks say "it's nothing different than we could do before. It's just faster..."
 
Interesting is not the word I would use.

Wonder when it will be used to start tracking citizens?

If you travel internationally, the Feds are now computing a "score" and retaining the score and underlying data for 40 years. Although they highlight a statement that it's "just to determine whether to give you an in-depth search", the full Federal Register document says they can share it with other Federal, State, and Local authorities.
