Hal Fishman has been a TV anchorman in Los Angeles for as long as I can remember, and with KTLA-5 since 1965. A tireless advocate of general aviation, he has frequently used his own airplane in covering stories. Hal's name often appears in the writings of his friend, Barry Schiff, and he is one of the featured interviewees in the film One Six Right.

A report out of L.A. today says that Hal is hospitalized with colon cancer. Our prayers and best wishes go to Hal, with the hope we'll soon again see him on the air and in the air.

RIP Hal Fishman

Sad news:

From the KTLA website:
Hal Fishman 1931-2007
Legendary KTLA Anchorman Hal Fishman, the longest-running anchor in television history, and a presence in Los Angeles broadcasting for nearly five decades that many in the city grew up knowing and trusting, has died at the age of 75.
The station's obit adds:
Hal was also a pilot and the holder of 12 official world aviation records for speed and altitude.
