Anyone ever make the trek ?

Its only 571 nm from Hatteras :D

Seriously though, not as some kind of record attempt where you gut the plane and add all kinds of fuel tanks are there any piston singles with good enough range to make the trip ? i'm sure there are but without hours of research...

My 182Q could make the trip pretty easily I think with full fuel. 88 Gals means 7+ hrs of flight time @ 125 kts we could make it in a little over 4 hrs.

guess I had my mind stuck in piper arrow/172 type of aircraft, hadn't been in a 182 in a while, makes sense.

The 'Kota could make easy. 72 gallons an 130 kts TAS@10GPH. Prolly do that with a taper wing arrow or even better with a turbo arrow set up with GAMIs.
