Pattern Altitude
So it's been almost 2 weeks now, but I finally have some pictures.
This is the second time I've participated in the Bonanzas to Osh Kosh practice at Stockton. Practice starts early in the morning on Saturday with a presentation put on by FFI qualified folks. Everyone is reminded that there will be no overlap of aircraft in 3 dimensions. (Step down, no wing or tail overlap). Newbies are assigned a safety pilot who's an experienced formation pilot, and then the flights are fully briefed.
Everything is syncronized from engine start to engine stop. Radio use is typically frowned upon and most all signals are done by hand or a wing rock, tail wag, or porpoise.
Most of us were able to fly 3 sorties on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Most were flights of 3 or 4, with the last flight being a flight of 7. (Six Bonanzas and one Lancair)
These photos were taken by Dick who rode shotgun in many a flight that weekend. The 7 ship formation was a little hard to photograph from Dick's perspective, (number 5 of 7) but it did look good when we pulled up into position.
