They don't have to autorotate. don't know about the quadrotor but a lot of nonstandard RC helicopters can't autorotate anyway(use rpm instead of pitch to control lift.) Also if they have pitch control they can be set to autorotate to the ground without a flare, AC might not be reusable but it is still controlled and much slower then plummeting. A small ballistic chute could probably be worked out without too much fuss. Acceptable touchdown rates without people on board are pretty wide.:wink2:
