Any of you into carving for Halloween?

Looked for some patterns on the internet since we're doing it this year and I could only find examples like these instead of patterns to work with. Got to looking around and found this:

Which I turned into this in MS paint:

As a rough outline, I think it looks pretty good. I think it's a pretty cool looking design (rough as it is).

My 7 yo picked the flying-themed design on the left.

You can do more intricate designs by scraping the outer skin and letting light shine through the translucent flesh if you have the tools, the time, and the talent. I tend to go with designs that I can go through the wall on, and remove sections. You're probably going to have to simplify that MS Paint silhouette a bit to make it usable. Long thin sections (like the delta shape in the cat's ears) get tricky, can be very weak and break off easily. Some of your interior voids are not connected to anything at all.

Google for images of "airplane pumpkin stencils" to find a few more options. Even then, what looks good on paper might not work "in the flesh". Of the first Google hits the B-52 and 747 should be easy to carve.

I've only ever carved a pumpkin one time in my life. More of a mess than it's worth.
