Aspen 2000 and KFC 150

I am having a difficult time capturing the glide slope with the Aspen and KFC 150. If anyone has experienced similar problems and found a remedy, I would appreciate your advice. The capture / non-capture are purely random. You never know if it will capture or fly through and it is very frustrating.

Are you flying level with ALT hold on and intercepting the GS from below?
Do you allow at least 45 seconds after pressing the APR button for the A/P to acquire?
does the GS indicator illuminate on the A/P ?
