Can anyone point me to a website that has short term historical data on wind (last 12 hours, last 6 hours, etc.). We had fierce winds today (>50 mph). I'd like to see what our ASOS recorded as a peak. Someone told me they saw a 56 on the internet for us (KRUE) at one time. I was to busy with airport response to monitor wind measurements. We only had very slight damage to one plane and to one hangar door that I know of now. A Cardinal tiedown snapped on one wing and the tail either wasn't tied down or not adequately tied down. It weather-vaned around the intact left tiedown and dinged its left wing a little on a hangar support post. The lineman caught it just before it dinged the neighboring plane.

We had a couple of planes land under those conditions. Fortunately, the wind was pretty much aligned with the runway.

Edit: That's twelve hours worth as you had sought. For posting the data, do I get more credit than that vagabond corporate pilot? :)

Thanks folks. That was really quick response. 19:53 ZULU shows 59 MPH, An hour later it was 56 MPH. I wonder if there were higher peaks in between. Lots of roof damage in town, trees down, power outages. I havn't looked at my roof yet but the lake did eat my sailboat and move my dock. I'll worry about it tomorrow.

Are you one of those "engineless" guys like Tony???

I hope the damage wasn't too bad for ya. If you look further down the first line, you'll see peak wind reported as "PK WND 28026/2354" translated to:

Peak Wind: 280 Degrees at 26 knots recorded at 2354Z

Request for credit noted. It is too early in the morning for Solomonic answers. Vagabond corporate pilots buy lots of Jet A from me ("lots" is an overstatement or maybe wishful thinking). I'm not getting crossways with any of them.

Thanks for pointing out the peak wind feature. I had focused in on the normal wind data and didn't look at anything else. The peak wind statement is missing form the hourly report with the highest gust value. I wonder if that means that it was the peak.

The bad data symbols in the report result from frequent power interruptions with instruments and computers re-booting.

Is that why it took you two minutes longer to answer the question? :D
LOL No, part of it was the little wheel spinning forever and a half day waiting for it to actually post!

Sometimes, it will take so long I'll open several threads on different tabs in IE then go to each one as it continues to work.

Bite me Wimpy! :D

I'll give you a hamburger today if you stand out in the cold tomorrow. :)

Stick that in your cabin vent and smoke it! :D

Hey now, don't make me sick 18 5 year olds on you there, tough guy. Make it a cheeseburger and I'll stand outside all day while you get trounced by little kids.:rofl:
