I know enough to be dangerous. I've rolled my own map server using GeoServer and my own mapping software using OpenLayers, postGIS, GeoServer, Mapnik, OSM data, GEOTIFFs etc...
The checks ESRI want's you to write wouldn't clear my bank account.
