I've registered for the Fly-In. Coming from Sacramento so it'll be a really really short flight for me. Anyone planning on attending?

I'm going to come in on the 20th in the early afternoon hoping to squeeze in 18 holes next door. I signed up for the $99 package for the ground courses on Friday and Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it. I just read over the NOTAM and safety packet for the flyin downloaded from the aopa website.

I hope to meet some of you there. If anyone living in the Sacramento area would like to sandbag with me, I'd be happy to have company. I won't be sharing my tent. My plane is based at KSAC.

At last, AOPA released the schedules for the seminars and endorsable ground coarses for the flyin.

For the tuition courses for Friday, the only one I'm interested in is the long range VFR flight planning from 1-4pm.

So, the morning free seminars I'll take is the Leidos hosted seminar 1800wxbrief: the best of the future of flight service 9-945; 11-1145 AOPA town hall.

Saturday tuition courses look better for me. Flying on the Edge: Controlling your aircraft in an emergency 9-12; Aircraft Maintenance 1-4.. The free seminars on Saturday don't have much pull for me to skip any tuition seminars.

Hi all, I’m driving in from Sunnyvale the21st with YF & MIL so won’t be attending any seminars. Still, have expect to see a lot of planes and vendors there. I’m thinking about wearing my steampunk aviator’s helmet and flying goggles for awhile along with an aviation related T-shirt.

I might be in the area for business, so I may pop in on Sunday. See how things go when I get there.

The event ends on Saturday afternoon. There will be nothing to see on Sunday.

Thanks for the information, I thought it was a Saturday/Sunday thing. I would have checked it more carefully this week when I book flights to KSFO.

Looks like the meeting starts Saturday, so I'll arrive 21 June, Friday. It will be a snap decision if I attend, depending on a number of factors.

Sorry I couldn't make it, Paul. Today was Doug Dugger's retirement party from Quality Sport Planes in Cloverdale, and the introduction of the new Quality Sport Planes owner. Sebastian Heinz, president of Zenith, flew in from Missouri. They set the date at the last minute, and I've known Doug for years and wanted to wish him a happy retirement. Mike Radtke and I flew up in the Zodiac (18 nautical miles, 14 minutes).

I was there, from about 11:20 to about 2:30. I missed the STOL demo, but saw about everything else I wanted to see. I'll be more interested in the exhibits once I get my PPL and a plane. The drone show was canceled due to software issues.

I got to sit in a Velocity Twin, and a Sling Tsi. The V-Twin has a 47" cockpit, and a 6" wide console, and it fit me like a glove. The Sling has a 44" cockpit and a 3" console, and it also fit me like a glove. Looks like I need a minimum of a 41" wide cockpit, plus whatever width the console is, if it has one. I pump iron a bit at a local gym a few days a week, so as my biceps grow, the minimum cockpit width could also grow. I do like the gull wing doors. My MIL has rheumatoid arthritis, so she has a hard time moving. The Velocity's gull wing door and folding seats would make it relatively easy for her to get in back.

I had been thinking about a Velocity SE/173 because it has a narrower cockpit, and needs a smaller engine (less fuel, etc.) but the Velocity airplanes all have keels that the consoles fit on, so the SE/173 are non-starters for me. (I'd rather feed a 200 HP engine than a 310 HP engine to go fast).

AeroCad has an AeroCanard Velocity "quick build" kit, including the fuselage. The cockpit there is 42", I'll need to find out if their fuselage has a keel, or not.
