Coming up to medical time again and I haven't been paying attention.
Have there been any new landmines added to the process in the past two years? I remember last time they added the PDF application that once you started you couldn't turn around and stop.

No land mines. But a few conditions are CACI. http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/avs/offices/aam/ame/guide/certification_ws/

If by PDF application, you mean MedXpress, you can have some control of the process. Just don't give the AME or staff the confirmation number from the bottom of the sheet. Until that's entered into the system, the exam remains consultative and not official. So if the AME says there is a problem that must be dealt with before he can issue, you haven't jeopardized any standing with the FAA because the exam isn't live. But once you submit the number and it's entered, it's an actual exam that becomes an issue, defer, or deny situation.
