Anxiety

I have read up on the FAA's relatively new (2010) policy on the use of SSRIs for depression, but am not sure if it covers certain anxiety issues as well. Some articles make it seem as though it does, but everything I find directly from the FAA only mentions "depression." I have delt with social anxiety in very specific situations for more than 20 years. I've never sought help because I knew I would have to report it and couldn't take meds anyway, so I have just put up with it, but if it is possible to see if something could help me I would like to try it. Does this policy effect use of the four approved SSRIs only for depression or can they be used for anxiety as well under the same SI procedures?

Only if it is a byproduct of depression (partial author of the SI), which was our focus.

Anxiety disorders are just crippling at odd moments to decisionmaking under pressure.

I agree with Bruce...anxiety and depression are closely related in many instances. A brief evaluation is often helpful.
