another crash...general question for you all

Our local news picked this up, of course because the aircraft departed from KBVO, the news had to show it as a crash headline in Bartlesville. I feel horrible for these people as we all do. Why does the news have to pick this up and plaster it everywhere?

Same reason people slow down to look at a car accident, people want to see death.

Because aviation is so safe these kind of things don't happen that often. Less often = more news worthy. Also, plane crashes equal either many lives lost or many dollars lost or both.
