The ABC News article got it right. The low-rent clickbait site that wrote about the ABC News article got it wrong.
This makes me more confident that my speculation back in post #809 is correct. Baldwin was probably unconsciously holding the trigger back when he thumbed the hammer.
Alec Baldwin will never take responsibility for this tragedy. Shame on him. Hopefully one day he will become less of a turd.
That passage is one of my favorites. It clearly shows how God will deal with people who make baldness jokes. Go bears!
Unfortunately the film industry around Santa Fe has enormous political clout so the odds Baldwin will ever be held accountable are somewhere south of slim and none. He should at a minimum be convicted of manslaughter and probably criminally negligent homicide but the State of NM is horribly corrupt so a few pay offs to the right people will either get this case buried or drug out for years until he is allowed to plead it down to a misdemeanor.
He wouldn't want me on the jury. There is no such thing as an empty gun. Treat everyone as if it is loaded. Never point one at anything or anybody you don't wish to destroy or kill. Keep all firearms pointed in a safe direction. I know, I'm a touch anal on this subject, but then I'm a Benefactor member of the NRA and an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer.
I'm a big fan of gun bans. Anybody that has killed someone with one should not be allowed to buy or carry a gun. *Forgot to mention this is a joke not a political statement.
His liability is even greater as the producer of the movie as ultimately he hires the prop master and weapons master (in this case the same person) and then is himself overall responsible for ensuring no gun loaded with live ammo makes it onto the set. He even from what I understand not only allowed but participated in shooting live ammo through those prop guns at a range on the ranch before this segment was filmed using the same weapon that the final shot came from. I'm a Chief RSO and like you I find this entirely inexcusable in any way.
I’m not up to date on this Rust tragedy and have not been following this thread. I remember reading about the off-set live shooting practice or recreation, but not that AB participated. Was the information noted above being discussed in some circles with high confidence or was it obscurely written in local media somewhere? It seems quite relevant to anyone claiming AB’s overall responsibility.
I saw it in several pieces done by network TV out of Albuquerque shortly after the shooting. Since I got the same basic story out of 2 local stations I have pretty high confidence the report was accurate.
Anyone who crosses him in any way. He has a long history of documented violent outbursts and uncontrolled rages. He's exactly the kind of person who should never be allowed to handle a firearm of any type.
Alec Baldwin says that this tragedy has taken years off of his life. Alec Baldwin says he doesn't think he or anyone else will face charges in fatal Rust set shooting | Daily Mail Online Hey, Alec, you know whose life this tragedy has taken years off of?
There was never any real question about it, one way or another Baldwin was somehow going to be the victim in all of this. Those payoffs must be taking a huge bite out of his wallet.
I've believed from the beginning that Baldwin wasn't going anywhere even though he was the trigger man. Someone else will get the blame but sadly I don't believe anyone will even see the inside of a prison cell over this. No, I don't think it's right ...
Looks like AB is in deep Kimchee https://nypost.com/2022/09/26/alec-baldwin-could-soon-face-charges-in-fatal-rust-shooting/
This has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve read: “Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies filed an emergency request for $635,500 from New Mexico’s Board of Finance so her office would have the funds necessary to prosecute up to four people in connection with the incident, a copy of the request states.” So the Board of Finance gets to decide whether someone can be prosecuted?! What happens if the Board turns down the request? Can someone really escape justice simply because a Board of Finance decides they can’t afford to prosecute?
According to the article, what happens is that lower priority cases get pled out instead of tried. So yes, it appears someone can escape justice for reasons of state budget. I’m pretty sure it happens all the time, all over.
Woah, let’s get down to the Nitty Gritty. Hope yer successful and get this thread put to rest. But first, a musical interlude…
Per the Wall Street Journal, the filming of Rust will restart. Not in New Mexico. With a Safety Officer. In compliance with Union safety rules. No information as to the cast going forward.
I think I saw something indicating Alec had settled with the decedent's estate and made her widower a producer on the resumed production.
Yep ... https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment/6386932/alec-baldwin-settlement-halyna-hutchins/ I'm still of the belief that Alec won't ever see the inside of a cell ...
