Final Approach
The Alamo Liaison Squadron once again plans to host our annual Bluebonnet Picnic / Fly-in / L-bird gathering on April 17. 2010. Our squadron and members own and operate WWII liaison aircraft such as the Taylorcraft L-2, Aeronca L-3, Piper L-4, Interstate Cadet, Piper J-3 Cub, and the Stinson L-5.
We own Cannon Field ( FAA Identifier 53TX ), a grass strip on the south side of San Antonio and invite all aircraft owners to bring their planes out (special welcome to taildraggers).
We'll be having some barbeque, talking with veterans, showing a film on WWII Liaison pilots and aircraft, having a contest or two, and having fun.
Our current invited veterans list looks like this:
WWII L-5 pilot from Houston, TX
WWII L-5 pilot from Washington State
Possible WWII L-5 crew chief (of WA pilot) from Houston, TX
Likely WWII L-5 pilot from North Texas
Possible WWII L-4 pilot here locally
We also anticipate a number of other veterans and pilots to be there!
