So the AP says that the housing downturn is pushing us towards a recession.

But this statement just floored me:

“Of course, when the economy slows to a 1 percent pace, it runs the risk of falling into an actual recession, just as when an airplane’s velocity dips down to its ’stall speed’ and falls out of the sky,” Shulman wrote."

Gotta love the press and their analogies.

Yes, and why exactly do we listen to them, knowing how ignorant they are?

Moronic airplane analogy.

Right on with the economic prediction. If some relief does not materialize fast, we'll be in a bad way by Christmas. Far too much money has stopped moving entirely due to this mess, and it's thrown several other industries into a spiral as well.

Contrary to what the administration is saying, this is not a 'healthy shaking out' of the housing industry.

Actually, to their credit, they did get it right that stalling had nothing to do with the engine. That's an improvement over the norm. Now if they could have just not said that bit about "falling out of the sky." :)

Two points, first, if the airplane dips below its stalling speed AND STAYS THERE, it kinda DOES fall out of the sky.

Second, airplanes only fall out of the sky when the pilot does not file a flight plan.
