The explosive material was apparently taped to the man's leg and lit the lower part of his body. He was immediately subdued and restrained and was later transported to a hospital burn unit.

Passenger Syed Jafri, a U.S. citizen who had flown from the United Arab Emirates, said the incident occurred during the plane's descent. Jafri said he was seated three rows behind the passenger and said he saw a glow, and noticed a smoke smell. Then, he said, "a young man behind me jumped on him."

I want to publicly thank the "young man".

Wow. when I posted my link, the text in the article said 'firecrackers'...in fact the link title still says that. Hence my thread title now seems inappropriate.
If he was on my flight and I had access to him, he might not have left the airplane completely intact. I am kinda surprised there was not a huge pax attack on the guy.

that's ok, Dave - he DIDN'T leave the airplane completely "intact". The fool burned the heck out of himself... I'm delighted to say.

Fox is still referring to it as "firecrackers" this am! A bit behind, I'd say.
