In September 2021, a man named Charlie Gasmire sent me an email to get info on a photoshoot for his 182 and his Dad's Super Cub. I gave him a price and didn't think much about it.
About a year later, Charlie reached out again inquiring about my schedule. This time he said, "If possible, I think it would be really fun to document the dynamics of an air-to-air shoot and put it on YouTube. I recently did a collaboration video with Textron talking about their 182 and it's gotten nearly 600k views so far."
So, I'd been having a conversation with Charlie for a year. In every email, he had his signature with Airplane Academy in it and it still didn't dawn on me who I was talking to until he mentioned the 182 video with Textron. I had not only seen that video, I've been a big fan and follower of his work! If you haven't checked him out on YouTube, he's one of my favorites. He has a great channel that is informative and helpful. I don't make recommendations very often, but I highly recommend Charlie. Airplane Academy
Last weekend, we met up in Central Texas and worked out a plan to get Charlie and his Dad photographed. He brought along a couple of videographers and put cameras on his plane and mine, and we even did the briefing on video. Keep an eye out for a video in a couple of months as well as an article in both Piper Owners and Cessna Owners magazines! This was a fun one for me!

After some solo shots, we called Charlie in to join.

We switched it up and brought Charlie in as #1.
And lastly a few with Charlie by himself.
I was nervous about this shoot. It was a lot of coordination, mostly on the ground, and we not only had to get the shots, but for once I'll be on the wrong side of the camera. Turned out to be a great weekend. Hope you enjoy!
