One of the benefits of flying has always been -- no billboards. Well, it looks like that is about to change:

Aircraft have long carried advertising to those on the ground (skywriting, banners, blimps, etc.). This is the first ground-based advertising I can think of aimed specifically at aircraft.

I can see it now ... a series of Burma Shave signs stretching across four states!

Car in the ditch
Driver in the tree
Moon was lit
And so was he!

They're still around...... if you live in Iowa.

chris, where is that one? i have seen a few around, you gotta get out on the old highways though

I've seen several of them on the old country roads west of Boone around Jefferson/Rippey/Perry areas. Must be a Burma Shave salesman over there or something. A couple of them are definitely old and tattered, but there are a couple that look like they're only a few years old with new paint and everything.

Plane in the ditch
Pilot in the tree
Scud was running
And so was he!

Lame, I know. This could be better than Limerick Time, though.
