Do ADF wire antennas have any affect on speed. My ADF has been dead a long time and that wire antenna looks to be draggy. Maybe it isn't but curious and no I am not hanging clothes on it.

I would think negligible, but if your ADF is removed no sense in keeping the antenna.

yes, as an example do a little reading on the drag caused by bracing wires vs larger-but-streamlined struts. The old biplanes weren't slow because of the 2nd wing so much as because of all the wires.

Pre-takeoff checklist
I kept mine when I had the GTN added, but only so I could listen to AM radio and avoid having an extra blank in the panel. That being said, I never listen to AM radio, and I agree the antenna is ugly.

Yes, it has a drag effect. How much?
