What are those extensions on the tip of acrobatic planes? It looks like a bar with a triangle.

Geometric reference. The pilot can look down the wing and more accurately judge the pitch attitude.

In competition aeerobatics, straight lines are supposed to be horizontal, vertical, or a 45-degree up or down. The apparatus at the wingtip allows a pilot to quickly and easily achieve those lines.

They're called a sight gauge, and as stated are a visual reference for the horizon- straight up, straight down, and 45 up and down. I had two but took one off since they do add some drag and are kind of fragile.

Sometimes they are not triangles, but more like an asterisk. After nearly impaling myself on one of them, I taped red yarn to the trailing edges of mine (which you can see here fluttering just below the edge of the canopy).
