I was just on my way back from lunch and looked at the gas station marquee and thought WOO HOOO! gas is back down to pre-Katrina levels.
Sad that I got that excited about $2.67.9/gallon gas, that is.....:(

Now if 100LL will just get back down to less than $4.00/gallon. Right now it's $4.75, and I have not flown since Katrina.

The airport where I get gas went down $.10 last weekend. From $3.35 to $3.25. Of course they waited until the day after I refueled to do it. :(

Still, compared to some other places I guess I shouldn't complain.

actually, I am noticing much lighter traffic. by this time last year the 10 mile commute to work was close to 30 minutes usually. it's still in the summer range - 13 minutes.

Yeah, but are the kids on fall break this week? Most are...

actually I mean the whole time period - not this week, the whole enchilada. usually Labor Day starts the nose to the grindstone commute. it's been a breeze, still.

Not here, still the same old traffic, still people driving silly fast in silly large trucks...business as usual. I don't see much habit change with the increase in fuel costs.

At VNC it just went UP from $3.49 to $3.99 <img>

well, THAT won't change - silly large - but the fast goes to slow and maddening pretty dang fast these parts.

then again, rain will change that. last week I went to DC for a conference... 30 miles... 2.5 hours. 2.5 HOURS. I actually had to stop for a potty break. not kidding.

The good news, I just filled up my truck at 2.53.9. The bad news, 100LL at N99 is 4.60...

Yowza! Will the Robbie run on moonshine? Go back on some of those dirt roads off of Rt. 100 and you might find a still or two. And I thought $3.35 was high.

Was in BLH this morning and the FBO manager said gas was going to start down. Tomorrow...

That makes sense, last night I filled the truck for $2.57. Down from $3.09 what, two weeks ago?

$5.50 at KFMN. I'm sure glad I'll never buy fuel there! I don't understand how a GA airport can get away with prices like that.

Amen. I got excited that the gas station by my house was down to $2.53 last night... and then, on the radio this morning, they said that just across the Red River, in Oklahoma, they are paying only $2.18, 'because they have their own refinery there and aren't under the pricing pressures from the hurricane.'

Price gouging, that's all it is. How the price can fluctuate SO MUCH on one delivery (going up and down several times on the same "gas in the ground tanks" that was delivered last Friday) is beyond me....

I had a surprising experience going into North Las Vegas last Sunday. Topped off at the self-serve for $3.86 as soon as I landed. When I went to depart on Thursday, the price had gone DOWN to $3.60. And I took 40 gallons.

Nick: Never buy from 7 Bar at FMN (those of $5.50 fame). Bisti Aviation at the east end of the ramp is currently $4.48, and I expect that price to go down when the take a new shipment. Plus, Don has a nice 40's vintage Taylorcraft taildragger you might want to rent someday, with dual for about $90 per hour. You even get to learn hand-propping.
