If you are not familiar with the meaning of 8.33 kHz channel spacing, you can read a very interesting article on the subject on www.roger-wilco.net. Currently used only in Europe, it may spread also to the US and other places with a frequency shortage. The editors of Roger-Wilco will also be happy to answer any question you may have in this subject.
 
I doubt 8.33 will be used in the US. The Europoeans needed more frequencies quickly and couldn't wait for better solutions.
 
I expect it will arrive in the US eventually. Fortunately, my Garmin 530 is 8.33-ready.
