Hey all,

Im looking to change the tire for the first time on this 7eca with only a basic floor jack and some wood.

Is the wheel fairing bracket strong enough to support the weight, either as a lift point (jack+wood) or after jacking it up...setting it down on it?

Would the axle nut be Ok if I lifted it from that? (And set it down on something on the other side).

Thanks!

There are two ways to do this:

1. Make a welded-up bracket that fits under the tapered gear leaf and wedges there, and has a steel nipple for the jack underneath it. It needs to be made accurately so that it will fit neatly and not scar the leg. An alternative would be two pieces of steel flat bar with bolts through them that clamp onto the leg and also have the steel nipple.

2. If you have an engine hoist you can put a carriage bolt through the tiedown ring on the strut attach, with a bit of rubber between it and the bottom spar cap, and pick it up with a hole drilled through the hoist's top tube.
