Normally I would have been there, but this year Columbus AFB (CBM) held its GA safety awareness weekend on the same date. ~30 private planes flew in for that. Being Career Day, too, the base had several examples of active duty aircraft on display, including an F-22. Two B-1s did touch and goes on the center runway while we had a picnic lunch on the ramp. Activities of the day included a briefing on the airspace utilization around CBM, tours of the altitude chamber, tower and RAPCON, as well as a brief simulator experience (I over-G'd the T-6II trying to fly under the Waverly Bridge).
More than 1/3 of all future AF pilots train at CBM.
