Looking for a CFI preferably in the North East Texas area but I’m willing to travel. CFI needs 500 TT, 100 retract and 50 in a 182RG to meet insurance requirements. I have my ppl and and I’m buying a plane. I need 10 hours. All my time is in 172’s and I’m trying to move up in the world.
    Thanks

Sounds like we have the similar insurance quotes. My solo requirements and open pilot were the exact same.

Yep. And the requirements for my CFI for IFR was a little insulting and I’m not sure he will do it. They want him to have 8 hours in a 182RG with 2 hours IFR. He flys every day and has over 12,000 hours tons of IFR with tons of complex and high performance and plenty of 172RG and 182 time. Doesn’t make any sense to me. I don’t mind the requirements for me, but I may lose my instructor over it and I hate that because he is local.

Why cant you give him the plane, he can fly it under his insurance for 8 hrs, and then be your CFI.

Hey Danny. I’m the one that sent you one of my contacts through Facebook. Sounds like they might not be able to do it either, but hopefully we can hook you up. All the best, and make sure you post pictures of the 182 RG here. Welcome to POA

I have seen that done. I've also seen people fly their plane without insurance to an airport to pick up their CFI, at which point they were insured. Yikes.

Or get instruction without insurance until you feel comfortable and meet 10 hrs, then get the insurance (unless you’ve borrowed money to buy it). It’s just a simple financial risk management option if it’s paid in full.

Great airplane. I have several hundred hours of 182RG time but I'm in Wichita.
