    Affordable Single Seater

Nice Video. I probably roll at half that rate! I will have to go out and record some and see what it actually is doing.

    Affordable Single Seater

I don't know which model Pitts you are flying but the M1 is noticably faster than the S2B in the roll, the S2B being the only Pitts I have ever flown. I have flown the RV7 quite a bit and it rolls, at best, 2/3 as quick as the Mustang. Another plane I have rolled a lot is the Thorpe T-18...

    Affordable Single Seater

I have one with an O-235 and I have around 500 hours on it. You have to be the right size for the plane, they are pretty cramped. They do fly very nice however.:)

    Affordable Single Seater

The Midget Mustang, Sonerai, Mong, Corben Ace, Cassutt and Preceptor Pup are frequently for sale under $25000. Why do you want a single seat plane?

New Aerobatic Bi-Plane also an LSA

I would assume the problem with aerobatics and the Rotax is the gear box but many semi- aerobatic planes do use the Rotax. Murphy makes a little bipe, the Renegade, that is stressed for it and uses the Rotax. Anyway the plane looks very nice indeed.

    Wild Pattern Landing

I used to sky dive years ago, the club had a Cessna 180. After the jumpers were out the pilot would go into a spiral dive with power on to get down quick. If it was a warm day he would kick it into a spin instead and rotate down. His explanation was it didn't shock cool the jugs and was a...

    Who's Building What?

I am building an Air Bike, fuselage 90% done. I have to repair two ribs and recover both wings. I will use Poly fiber as I have a bunch left from recovering my son's Avid Flyer. Just recently rebuilt the cooling plenum and changed the intercylinder baffling on the O-235 in my Midget...

    After the ppl

If I was going to go to a retract for what you described I would get a Mooney. Fairly quick, easy to fly and cheap on fuel. I have always thought they were a bargain price for what they can do.

    Training in DA-20 or 172?

Fly what you think you will buy.

Fly with master switch off to save money?

I don't know if they still do it in the USA but here the examiner would kill an engine on an NDB approach when you were flying a twin for your IFR ride. Now they use zero thrust instead. Too many cracked up AC. I found it to be more challenging than killing the engine on a single for your...

    Renting a plane in Mexico?

Thanks for the reply Smooth, I was starting to think the same thing regarding getting an instrucor to ride along. My Spanish is pretty much non-existant anyway.

    Renting a plane in Mexico?

The wife booked a trip to Mexico, Cancun, and I was thinking of renting a plane while there. Is it possible? Do you need a Mexican licence to rent?

    What difference in Pitts models?

I only have around 10 hours in a Pitts and it was all in an S2-B, however it sure made acro much easier. The only negative was visability on landing [and fuel burn]. If the opportunity arises I would like an S1-S.

Who here has accidentally stalled a plane?

I have accidentally stalled many times. Allways doing acro though. Hammerheads come to mind as well as a few times at the top of the loop.

High performance or tailwheel endorsement ?

Henning is right on this one. If you know what you are doing you should not have a problem transitioning to a docile TD like a Citabria. Canada does not even have a TD "endorsement". The insurance companies have more to say than the government on that. The first TD I soloed was a formula 1...

    Panic at stall horn

If you can, find an older plane that does not have a stall horn like a Champ, Chief or Tailorcraft. Personaly I would duct tape the horn.

    Crosswind Landings

My son was having the same problem, strong x-winds were OK but light to moderate he was touching down slightly crooked. What we finaly did was I got him to touch down on the upwind main wheel and keep the wheel tracking the centerline of the runway, as long as possible with just the upwind main...

high wing vs low wing for a private pilot

High wing vs low wing...it really does not matter all that much. I find that a lot of people tend to buy a similar plane to what they trained on for their first plane.
