tacometer is stuck at 1000rpm even when engine is shut off!

Looks like you got some dirt in the "metering" screw, this screw goes inside the inlet port of the instrument (fuel port). Have your mechanic to visually cheek it for dirt, or you need to send the unit to a shop.

tacometer is stuck at 1000rpm even when engine is shut off!

Maybe I come from an old school, we used to troubleshoot and "swap" radios on DC-8s and 727s at DHL. There was not much time to do it, specially at 4 am in the morning with those cargo airplanes ready to fly. But definitely, I would like to save $100 or $200 bucks to my customers, that's why I...

tacometer is stuck at 1000rpm even when engine is shut off!

Put a piece of aluminum foil between the cable and the tachometer (ask your wife if you can steal some aluminum foil from her kitchen), screw the cable again to the back of the tach indicator and test again. If it works now, is because the cable has worn out, and need to buy a new stainless...

    Regaining Currency/Proficiency as an A&P

I agree with Tom, I can even send the propeller out to AAR for overhaul and have it back in one week. The only stuff you are required to have calibrated is a torque wrench, and of course the appropriate Manual.

    Regaining Currency/Proficiency as an A&P

There is not a real requirement, you can work with your A&P right away. You are not doing major alterations, or overhauls. And I think you can not longer use your A&P for that kind of work anyway, you have to work under a Part 145 for that.

    Push to talk switch fabrication.

Headsets from Telex and Dave Clark are PMA, not sure where are you buying yours. If you go to WalMart or Radio Shack probably you won't find anything TSOd or PMA. That is up to you folks. As the FAA says: "responsibility of the installer" :yikes:

    Push to talk switch fabrication.

That is an illegal alteration. Good luck with the FAA. :dunno:

    S-Tec 30 Question

Is it a light tray or a post light? If it is a post light, you only need to unscrew the cap and install a new GE light bulb. If you got a light tray from NU-LIGHT, you need to buy another tray from NU-LIGHT.
