    learned something new today........

I learned that my 12 gauge with target load has a wide enough spread at 15 yards to totally destroy the target and, unfortunately, the range’s mount , costing $6 when checking out...but you get to keep the mount ...whoda thunk?? I now know if used on an intruder it won’t only ruin...

Have you guys seen this? Mooney Baggage Hatch Incident

Love that fast electric gear in the Mooney... not sure if many other airplanes would have completed the down cycle that close to the ground. Johnson bar probably even faster.

Does anyone own a Diamond DA-40

The funniest thing related to Diamond is the Airframe Temperature indicator between the seats. If the indicator is activated you can't fly because the skin is too hot (and I guess too degraded from the heat). Fortunately, it has to be 131 Degrees F to be activated which is quite unlikely in...

Have you guys seen this? Mooney Baggage Hatch Incident

I, and one other Mooney guy I know taxied with the door open... For me, it was a "where's that strange breeze coming from" before noticing it. It happened to me because I climbed in to set up headsets etc. I usually take one more walk around after that but because my wife climbed in beside me...

Pitch vs. power - causes of excessive sink and hard landings

For all you tail strikers... Flying a 172 down the runway a foot or two off the runway, just above stall, and using power to keep it there is no more dangerous than a normal landing where power is added just before touchdown to soften the landing. The only difference is putting in enough power...

Pitch vs. power - causes of excessive sink and hard landings

The OP is not a student. This is a guy working on his commercial. To arbitrarily state that doing this is dangerous is ridiculous. If you can’t keep your tail from smashing into the runway, you’ve got a serious problem. I have over 500 hours in Skyhawks and have done this exercise many times...

Pitch vs. power - causes of excessive sink and hard landings

Have you ever practiced slow flight over the runway. I found it to be a great exercise to help in landing problems... approach normally. When you get to the flare add power to keep the airplane from touching down. Fly as far as you can down the runway a couple of feet (barely) off the runway...
