    Crossover spins?

Be careful with "just taking your hands off" while in a developed spin in a Decathlon. They will stay in it, then aggravate themselves as the controls unload and tend to go where they want. With certain aggravated spin modes (inverted as well as upright), the Beggs recovery method is not...

CFI Shennanigans - How does your CFI distract you during lessons?

Haha, Sonny. Wow, it's been a loooooong time since someone's called me that! I'm pretty confident I have a solid grasp about what's right or wrong in training. Relaxing and having fun with it is an important part. I love it when I get guys with your attitude for flight reviews, IPCs or other...

    Symptoms of high g force

Yup, totally normal. If you don't get sick, you'll get stupid. The good news is, you'll acclimate to it just like anything else. Just remember to take it easy and leave yourself with enough brain power & fuel in the tanks to get back safe.

CFI Shennanigans - How does your CFI distract you during lessons?

Ohhh, a tough guy huh? There's always one of you floating around....

CFI Shennanigans - How does your CFI distract you during lessons?

I just pass gas. It's eye-watering & devastating. If my student can power through that, they can handle anything. Dropping pencils is for Nancys.

    172N or PA28-140?

That dihedral has the effect of an anhedral when the aircraft is flown inverted. Fun stuff. It'll just be divergent in roll and really not want to be there. That would be badass to have an acro Cherokee. Roll it on takeoff and climb out of the downwind inverted! Nobody would suspect the...

    172N or PA28-140?

Both fly pretty crappy upside-down, so I really don't see the point at all...

Stepping out of the comfort zone

Head first, feet second, safety third. That's how you depart your comfort zone. As pilots we can only mitigate risk. If you want to eliminate it, don't bother getting out of bed in the morning & pray there isn't an earthquake.

    Upset Recovery Training

The syllabus for our EMT course has the student do a simulated engine failure approach to landing at the end of each lesson.

    172N or PA28-140?

2 things to try in each aircraft (with plenty of altitude, in utility category and a qualified CFI on board.) 1)Falling leaf stall: In a 172 your feet won't be busy at all. Most of the time you'll find yourself holding pressure on one rudder as a descending slip develops. The Cherokee will...

    172N or PA28-140?

It's ridiculous what the 172 will let you get away with. It really is the airplane that rewards poor airmanship. C150, Cherokee 140.... Different story.

    License to learn

No no no... The NTSB has it ALL wrong.... 1. Never stop flying the airplane 2. Don't hit anything 3. Always have a plan. If the plan doesn't work, get a new plan. If that wont keep you alive, I don't know what will...

Debonair Balked Landing vs. Short field

Also while you're hanging out at those lower airspeeds parasite drag from the gear is minimal. So don't be in a rush to suck the gear up. Be thankful the gear retracts relatively fast as compared to some Cessna and Piper products. This is where the gear door/wheel position drag becomes the issue...

    Cub pucker factor

I thought it was pretty darn cool. Looks like he had everything under control to me  God forbid someone should have fun in an airplane.

    An Aero Biplane

You really cant go wrong with a Great Lakes, but I am slightly biased. You just cant be in a hurry to get anywhere.

    Aerobatics training for Student Pilot?
