Flying from Florida to LA - need airport near 91505

I have a Lance, but it is not turbocharged. We have O2 on board, so I can comfortably do enroutes of 10K-12K. On the ground. I am comfortable in busy airspace and mixing it up with larger/faster/numerous aircraft. I based in Miami for 2 years, in Atlanta for 2 years, and have more than once...

The Cayman Caravan - Answer the call to adventure

It's that time of year again, aviators, and I want to invite all of y'all to join us this year. OK - you have to have an IFR pilot in the plane, but it shouldn't be too hard to find a willing one. First, a little background. About 12 years ago, after years upon years of dreaming of flying, I...

Flying over water in Single Engine Aircraft

I'm gonna join in this discussion, mainly because I flew the Cayman Caravan 3 years ago for the first time. IFR from Key West, over Cuba, and on to Grand Cayman. Being able to take the trip was one of the primary factors that finally prompted me to get my instrument rating. The first leg is 105...

    finger pulse oximeter

I have been waiting and waiting for a deal on the Nonin, and even had a Dr. friend of mine look to get me one through his clinic at cost. I just placed the order for this one - what a deal!

Survey: Who does maintenance/mechanical work on your A/C?

Well, I used to only have the certified mechanics do all the work. Then I got screwed by a shop based at RYY, three letter acronymn for a name, but I wont mention it. :) $18,000 for an engine pull and replace, and an annual. Very expensive lessons learned there. Then switched mechanics, and...

    R.C. Allen vs SigmaTek

I have an electric RC Allen as a standby AI, and I am on my third unit in 2 years. And it just started rolling over when caging, so it is gonna have to go back. A buddy of mine has the same model RC Allen AI as a backup in his plane, and he is on the 4th one in 3 years. For what it is worth. :-/

    The Newest Aviator

He knows low wings rule, but his mom has him a bit confused - she put up beach scene wallpaper border, that has a 172 on floats that repeats throughout the border. But he will learn where "real" planes have their wings! LOL

    The Newest Aviator

Hello everyone, I have been lurking around for the last month or so, but haven't really had much to say, until now. :) I wanted to introduce the newest aviator - Samuel Santiago Fertitta. We adopted him from Guatemala and just got him home last week. He is 7.5 months old, and did really well...

    Hang in there

I stumbled across this same software in the adoption forums we have been using. Leaving tomorrow, hopefully to pick our son up from Guatemala and bring him home next weel. P
