A question about the revised aeronautical experience requirements for commercial cert

Re: A question about the revised aeronautical experience requirements for commercial I wonder if the "instructor on board as observer" could be used by folks who are medically prevented (because of color blindness) from flying solo at night in order to meet the requirements for a commercial ticket?

what's up with Phoenix Deer Valley airport?

Case Grande (KCGZ), some 30 miles south of phoenix, also has an ILS. Many PHX area pilots use it for IFR training. As previous posters have mentioned, if the ceilings in the are are low enough to require the ILS, then the weather is probably too bad to be flying a light aircraft.

    Starting to Bike Commute

I bike 5 miles each way in phoenix, mainly along residential streets. The company has locker rooms with a shower. They also have a nice bike storage area in the stairwell next the main entrance. When I started riding a year and a half ago, there would be maybe six bikes parked there, now their...

    Engine Failure on Takeoff

Jesse, Without watching your video, what bank angle were you using in the turn? I attended a WINGS seminar a couple of months back where the presenter gave a demonstration using MSFS. The gist of the demo was that if you are going to attempt a turn back to the airport, the steeper the bank...

Close call at DVT this evening (not me)

I think the correct term is Haboob, and yes it does cause some juvenile on-air snickering amongst the local newscasters.

    Non-aviation Posts

This bring up something I wanted to suggest. Would it be possible for posts by people on your ignore list not to show up in the new posts search? Otherwise, I find the "ignore poster" function to work quite well.

    Great home sim!

I've noticed that as well, and I just don't get it. The flight sims don't hold a candle to the real thing IMHO.:dunno:

I unknowingly had horsemeat in Japan. I don't recall any particular flavor profile, probably because of the Kirin Ichiban.

I have to say I think things are pretty civil around here. I think it's a credit to the site admins that they actively participate in refereeing things without being too heavy handed. I also have to add that I have found "ignore" feature to work far better than I would have thought.

    I feel like a smacked A$$

The guys at my local shop say that this sort of thing happens to them all the time: Taxing out to the runup area, someone comes driving up, trying to wave them off, pitot cover still in place, etc. I kind of wonder why they don't just remove the darn thing to avoid the confusion. Probably, they...
